"Goldi Rocks & the Three Bears"

Title: "Goldi Rocks and the Three Bears"

Author: Corey Rosen Schwartz and Beth Coulton

Grade: A +

Summary:

Papa Bear, Mama Bear, and Baby Bear know how to rock! But they need a new singer, so they audition everyone—the Three Pigs, Little Red Riding Hood, and more. To their dismay, no one seems just right.

Could the perfect lead singer be the mysterious girl sleeping on Baby Bear’s keyboard?

This mash up of Goldilocks and the Three Bears and The Voice is a surefire storytime hit.

Review:

One of my favorite units I have done with my kindergarten class this year was a week long unit based on "Goldilocks and the 3 Bears". We read many different variations of the book and one of my kiddos absolute favorite was Goldi Rocks. The book follows the storyline of the original Goldilocks tale, but adds some fun changes that adds a fresh spin on the classic story. Goldi enters the bears house to find a bunch of instruments, some porridge, and lots of fun. When the Bears return and find Goldi asleep on the keyboard, instead of chasing her away, they end up adding Gold to their band. My kinders love the happy ending to the book and asked to read it several more times that week. If you are looking for a fun spin to a classic story, you definitely want to check this one out!

"Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus"

Title: "Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus"

Author: Mo Willems

Grade: A+

Review

Would you let a Pigeon drive a bus? This is the question I always ask my kindergarteners before I read this book for the first time. The answers always vary, but most will laugh and say "No!!". Mo Willems has created a book where children get to yell one of their very favorite word over and over "NO!". In "Don't let the Pigeon Drive the Bus" readers are asked in many differnet situations if they would let a very persuasive large, blue, one-eyed, Pigeon if he could drive the bus. It is simple, but effective is getting young readers involved in a story. I have loved all of the Pigeon books that Mo Willems has written so much, that I themed my classroom after his book characters. They have become one of the things my previous students remember about their time in my classroom-the Pigeon books. There are several more Pigeon books in the series, but this is the first and one of my favorites. It is guaranteed to keep your young readers laughing and begging for your to read it again!

Welcome to my Bookshelf

 Hello everyone!

I am so excited to welcome everyone to my new blogging adventure! I am a teacher who has a passion and love for childrens books! One of my favorite parts of teaching is sharing books with my students and seeing them experience new books, hearing their belly laughs, and listening to their questions and comments about what we are reading. Not only is it my favorite part of the day, it is often theirs as well.

I am excited to share some of my favorite books I have on my classroom bookshelf and am looking forward to finding some ones that I can add as well!

Welcome!
